Carl van Zyl founded CVZ Attorneys in 2014 after completing an LL.B at the University of Johannesburg. The firm was established to give clients something increasingly difficult to find: direct access to an experienced attorney who understands the detail of the matter, the client’s commercial environment and the consequences of each available course of action.
CVZ Attorneys is based in Bryanston, Johannesburg. The firm advises businesses, operators and individuals in Johannesburg and Gauteng, Pretoria, Mpumalanga, and nationally where appropriate, with particular depth in cannabis and hemp regulation, mining and resources law, commercial litigation and corporate transactions.

Carl’s work spans regulatory advice, commercial transactions, litigation and estate administration. His experience includes mining equipment disputes, resources-sector transactions and offtake arrangements; licensing and compliance work in the cannabis and hemp sector; High Court and Magistrates’ Court proceedings; and executor and estate-administration work.
